The Flute Society of Saint Louis held a masterclass and recital on May 19th with renowned flautist and composer Ian Clarke. Members auditioned to participate in the masterclass, and the adult flute choir, youth flute choir, and Nebraska flute choir combined to play Clarke's piece 'Within'. The evening was finished with a recital by Ian Clarke.

Each year FSSL members of all ages have the opportunity to perform in front of the crowd at a Cardinal's game.

On November 15th, 2008, renowned Swedish flutist Göran Marcusson held a concert with pianist Tim Carey at the Community Music School at Webster University. Prior to the concert, Mr. Marcusson held a masterclass for student and adult flute players from the region.

On January 23, 2009, The Flute Society of Saint Louis and the Saint Louis Guitar Society co-sponsored a masterclass led by Viviana Guzman.
